Cambridge House Mayfair: London’s Upcoming Iconic Hotel

London’s Mayfair district is already synonymous with opulence and old‑world charm. Nestled on Piccadilly, a new address is set to elevate the neighbourhood’s reputation even further. Cambridge House currently undergoing a meticulous transformation will soon open as a luxury hotel and private members’ club that blends Georgian heritage with contemporary indulgence.

History & Heritage

Cambridge House is not a modern build; it’s a Grade‑I listed Georgian townhouse dating back to the mid‑18th century. Built between 1756 and 1764, the property has hosted nobility and political luminaries for centuries. Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (twice Prime Minister of the United Kingdom), once called this address home.

Over the years the residence welcomed the likes of Queen Victoria, and later served as the base for the Naval and Military Club. The current renovation honours this storied past by preserving original architectural details while reimagining the interiors for the 21st century.

Location

Situated at 94 Piccadilly, Cambridge House occupies a prime corner of Mayfair. Hyde Park lies to the west, Oxford Street to the north, Regent Street to the east and Green Park just a short stroll away. This central setting places guests within walking distance of Michelin‑starred restaurants, world‑class shopping on Savile Row and Bond Street, and iconic cultural landmarks. Despite its bustling surroundings, the hotel’s design promises a tranquil haven away from the city’s constant hum.

Design & Accommodation

The interiors of Cambridge House will marry classical English refinement with contemporary luxury. Award‑winning designers Jean‑Louis Deniot and Laura Gonzalez are overseeing the look and feel, drawing inspiration from the building’s history while introducing modern comforts.

  • Rooms and suites: The hotel will offer 102 rooms across several adjoining townhouses. Expect richly upholstered furniture, bespoke wood panelling, marble bathrooms and views over Green Park or Mayfair’s elegant streets.

  • Private members’ club: A nine‑room members’ club with its own bar will provide an exclusive space for socialising and networking, a modern nod to the Naval and Military Club that once resided here.

  • Double‑level spa: Hidden beneath the house will be a two‑storey wellness centre complete with heated pools, hydrotherapy facilities, treatment rooms, a gym and a relaxation lounge centred around a firepit.

Dining & Social Spaces

Cambridge House aims to be as much a social hub as it is a hotel. A brasserie‑style restaurant will occupy the mansion’s original ballroom, serving seasonal British dishes in a grand yet relaxed setting.

For al‑fresco meals, an open‑air courtyard restaurant and bar will provide a leafy escape, a rarity in central London  while the club’s bar will be reserved for members and hotel guests. Multiple lounges and drawing rooms dotted throughout the building will encourage guests to linger with a cocktail or afternoon tea.

Opening Timeline

The project is part of the Auberge Resorts Collection and has been in the works since 2024. Construction and restoration are on schedule, with a soft opening expected in late 2025 and a full launch planned for Spring 2026.

Once open, Cambridge House will join the ranks of London’s most exclusive addresses, offering travellers and locals alike a new standard of hospitality in the heart of Mayfair.

Why Cambridge House Will Matter

Mayfair has no shortage of luxury hotels, but Cambridge House stands apart thanks to its blend of historical gravitas and forward‑thinking design.

It’s rare to find a Grade‑I listed townhouse reinvented as a 21st‑century hotel, let alone one with its own members’ club and subterranean spa. Whether you’re planning a staycation, seeking a new spot for client dinners or simply curious about London’s ever‑evolving hospitality scene, keep an eye on this soon‑to‑open icon.
